The Unique and Transformative Fabric Collage Tapestry of Bat-Zvi
My technique grew out of my burning need to create my art during the time I lived in Nigeria when I could not obtain paints, brushes, or canvas. The idea to alternate paints with fabrics came to fruition when I sewed some clothes for my toddler daughter using an application for decoration. I inherited the artistic talent from my mother's family (from Warsaw, Poland), who were engaged in preparing and sewing artistically dowries for brides - decorating all with ornaments - tissues and other applications. My need to create art led me to Veneers - a technique that developed over several decades and is unique to me.
