Homage
I'm giving a special homage (with a twist of humor) to paintings of the great masters that I love such as Picasso, Matisse, and others - enjoying adding my own wink and nod to each of them.
Disconnected
The incredible world of high tech in which we live can connect us to astronauts in space, talking to astronauts on the Moon, and soon with the first humans on Mars. Such communication involves an astonishingly high level of technology but if we observe human communication in everyday life - like social gatherings, we quickly see the separation and disconnection of people, and an attitude of every person for himself (whether on his or hers phone or computer).
Whether or not this is a good development is irrelevant. We all know that there is no turning back.
This tapestry was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s The Last Supper - for the sake of highlighting the difference.

Midas’ Touch: The Woman in Gold, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer by Gustav KlimtSo much gold in the iconic piece of Klimt’s golden phase. The word gold immediately reminds me the story of King Midas who desires a magical touch that could turn into gold everything he touches. He paid a horrible price for his passion by turning his beloved son in to a golden statue. So I have added a portrait of the famous King Midas, portraying Gustav Klimt as King – sending with his finger an enchanted stream of gold.

Matisse’s Dance“I dream of an art of balance” said Matisse.
Balance? Well, I feel like spreading his dancers in all directions-up and down and around-creating a different balance using his colorful blues. Original size: 73"/48" (185/122cm) |
Polish Me RedI was inspired by Pablo Picasso's Seated Woman, Portrait of Marie - Therese Walter, who was a love and muse of Picasso (and the subject of at least 10 of his works) sitting comfortably in a stylish chair. Her hand is outstretched to me asking "Would you please apply red nail polish on my nails?" How could I refuse?

Adios, Chicas! This piece was inspired by Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (he actually preferred the title “Las Chicas de Avignon”) is one of my favorites - I did it with my fabric collage technique as a gift to myself. And I could not resist adding one more chica to their company.

When will you get married?A young Tahitian girl is asked by an older woman in this famous painting of Paul Gauguin. Well, today's young girls will not bother to answer such a question. So I have covered her ears with headphones listening to music on her smartphone. In the sky hovers the spirit of Gauguin, watching these girls. A cat sits calmly pretending to be sleepy, but with one curious ear and eye open. The question in the Tahitian language is floating up in a translucent bubble.

Japanese male dancers amazed me with their physical abilities as well as their imagination and daring. This tapestry is one of three tapestries.
